There are two things I can't live without in this life and both are Blender. First a blender because I am addicted to smoothies. And second a Blender to create and modify models for 3D printing. Advantages:
- Free
- Works on all operating systems
- All in one program (Modeling, Sculpting, Animating, Scripting, etc.)
- Plenty of help online
- Great UV tools
- Fast modeling with hotkeys
- Quickly improving
Disadvantages:
- Extremely steep learning curve
- Slow viewport with high-poly counts
- Hotkeys
